12 Drool Worthy Closets

Closets, closets, and more closets! A large spacious closet it right up there on my most favorite rooms’ list. I love a show-stopping closet and actually think I could live in one. Seriously, I picture my ideal closet and it is always quiet and peaceful. There are no toys or noisy children, and everywhere I look, there are beautiful wonderful things.  Sort of like these fabulous closets here. Just give me a book and a large mocha latte.

I have been thinking about a serious overhaul for my own closet, and in the process of digging for ideas, I came across all of these lovely closets. My own closet is nowhere near the size of these, but a girl can dream can’t she?

This closet (above) is the first closet that I have ever seen with stairs, outside of the amazing closet seen in the TV series “Scream Queens.” (If you want to see that one, check out my article on Horror Houses).

This closet makes me think of the fabulous closet built by Sandra over at Sawdust Girl. I love closets that have plenty of drawer space and sweater cubbies. I also like the shoe bench and the wall of mirrors. Just remember that should you decide to add an island of any kind to your closet, you will need to follow the measurement guidelines for that addition.

This is another closet with a similar design, but they have chosen to include two dressers down the center aisle rather than having built-ins. Notice how they glam the space up by adding mirrors to the ends of the dressers and to the door panels.

If you focus your attention to the shelves in the back of this picture, you will notice that rather than the normal 12″- 16″ spacing for sweater cubbies, these shelves are closely spaced together. This allows the owner of this closet to stack fewer sweaters into smaller piles. It gives the opportunity to organize sweaters and tops by color and/or type.  If you like things super organized as I do, then you can appreciate that extra feature.

And speaking of mirrors, this closet has added a large full-length double mirror. If a closet has enough space, the addition of a mirror (or 2, or 3…) is a plus. It turns the closet into your very own private dressing room.

In addition, the island of drawers appear to be dedicated to lingerie, and all the glass doors make it easy to see the location of clothing.

This closet incorporates the mirrors into the door panels and keeps the clothing out of view. By doing this design, everything is neat and tidy. It gives it more of a look of a regular room as opposed to a closet. This could be added to a wall in a bedroom and still look lovely.

This closet has also added mirrors to the doors of the cabinets, but this room is designed as more of a dressing area. Clothing can be hung in the space behind the mirrored doors, and shelving provides storage for purses and shoes.

 Out of view in this image are several other cabinets with glass doors. I really like the structured look of this room, but think that I would use more of the open space for storage. Still, who wouldn’t love to be able to have a sofa in their closet?

Have you heard the saying, “A pair of shoes can change your life? If you don’t believe that, ask Cinderella.” Well, if one good pair of shoes brings that much luck, why not have a whole room dedicated to them? The owner of this closet must have a similar motto. This closet is shoe heaven and shows that a lot can be done with a narrow space.

Notice the interior cabinet lighting. That’s not something that you see every day. I particularly love the ladder that allows cabinets to go all the way from floor to ceiling.

Something in a darker hue…

For those of you who prefer a wood tone over the painted white cabinets, or need to create a space for two, this closet may be perfect. The wood gives a masculine touch. While the elegant chandeliers provide the feminine statement piece. (By the way, more great lighting can be found here).

How about a more contemporary closet. This closet has the nice clean lines that are required for that design style, and there is plenty of space for everything and then some.

 Right now, there seems to be a rise in black rooms, so I thought I would include this closet as well. It’s one of those designs that you either completely love or completely hate, but without a doubt, this space is gorgeous. I’ll let you decide whether or not the black works.

And finally, this closet has a nice U shape. I would dare say that the wall cabinets continue along the hall behind that tall mirror. I like the way that the mirror was strategically placed to give a reflection of the entry way and the bathroom across the hall. It also blocks the view of the closet from any passers-by.

Final thought

All of these beautiful closets have given me the urge to get my closet finished. I have some great ideas that I hope I will be able to bring to fruition, even a few special features that I hope will inspire everyone. But I can’t give anything away yet. ;-)
