The tiny house movement has introduced the world to an alternative to big living and big spending. It is a trend that has grown in an almost snowball like effect, and doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. But to really understand why this idea has morphed into the movement that it is today, one must first understand the reasoning behind this drastic change in lifestyle.

One of the first things that I notice when I walk into any house is the lighting. It has the power to set the mood, create an atmosphere, and add class to a space. In other words, it makes a statement. With that in mind, I would like to introduce you to an exciting lighting company called Parrot Uncle.
One of my favorite design elements is the use of wrought iron or other metal art to make a decor statement. I love to see it used in unique ways, as accent pieces, and in combination with wood. It can make an otherwise drab area stand out as a focal feature, or it can take an already stately room and turn it into something magnificent.
Iron As An Insert
In my piano room, I felt that this wall was just crying out for something unique. So, I decided to have an insert made from wrought iron. It has an oil rubbed finish that matches the stair railings in the house. I also had a second identical insert placed at the top of the stairs on the knee wall.(Stairs can be seen in the background of the photo). The insert gives a feel of a more open space. FYI – that is one of my girls sitting in the chair. She likes to be involved in everything. 😉
If you are like me, then your pets are part of your family. What better way to declutter and stylize your home than to include your pets necessities in your decor? Buying special storage and bedding is one option, or you could just incorporate storage and bedding into what you already have available. Take a look at some of these great dog decor ideas.
