This year, I have been making a lot of my own Christmas decorations. I wanted to have a good mix of neutral farmhouse decorations to go with my champaign gold theme. In particular, I wanted to find some wooden stars in a neutral finish. Well naturally, I am not likely to purchase something that I can make with things from my scrap wood bin. As a result, I am able to share with you how to make farmhouse style wooden stars!
One of the things that I have been meaning to get to on my long list of to-do items is to move my son out of his twin sized bed into a queen size. He has really put on a growth spurt over the past few years, and that twin bed makes me think of Snow White trying to get comfortable in one of the dwarfs’ beds. Thank goodness he didn’t want anything too extravagant! He was more than pleased with this easy DIY modern platform bed.

It has taken me a while, but I finally got around to building some honeycomb shelves. As part of my office makeover, I thought that a collage of honeycomb shelves would look nice and add a little extra wall storage. One thing that I have noticed with other DIYers’ methods was that the build was a bit awkward. There are six sections in each shelf, so getting them to fit together correctly was causing some people to end up with the last piece slightly out of sync. So, I thought I would show you how to build and hang honeycomb shelves using my construction tricks.
Knowing how to frame walls with doorways is a skill that can open up a wealth of options for the DIYer. In a world where open concept rules and walls are shunned, focus on how to construct a proper wall isn’t at the top of the list for most home improvement gurus. Yet, this knowledge can be used to create new storage spaces, to define areas, or to change a floor plan’s layout.
