Crates are a lot like wicker baskets. You can never have too many, and they are perfect for providing quick and easy storage. They also can serve as an addition to your home decor. You can find them in just about any home goods store. But, if you choose to make your own, you can dictate the strength and the design of the crate. And as luck would have it, crates are quite easy to make. To demonstrate how to build simple crates, I will use a few of my images to break the process down for you.
Trivets are an accessory that every kitchen needs to have. They come in all shapes and sizes, but I really love the wooden ones. This DIY wooden toy boat would make a perfect gift for a little one, or it could be a great project to do with a slightly older child.

Not long ago, Restoration Hardware had this adorable, industrial desktop bookrack that I wanted. But of course, it was quite expensive, and now has been discontinued. Not being one to spend money on something that I believe I can make for a fraction of the cost, I decided that I would make my own. I have a lot of extra plumbing and structural piping laying around, so this looked like a good way to use some. I thought that I would share the results and the details on how I made it.
